SDG's Salwa Agustin
1. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to achieve various targets related to quality education. Some of the key points discussed under SDG 4 (Quality Education) include:
- Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or disability.
- Promoting lifelong learning opportunities for individuals of all ages to acquire knowledge and skills needed for personal development and employment.
- Enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through improved teacher training, resources, and infrastructure.
- Expanding access to affordable and inclusive education at all levels, from early childhood to higher education, vocational training, and technical education.
- Fostering global citizenship, tolerance, and respect for diversity through education that promotes sustainable development, peace, and human rights.
84 million children are out of school mainly due to factors like poverty, lack of access to quality education, conflicts, and discrimination. This goes against the goals of Education Equality under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aims to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities to receive a quality education. Achieving education equality requires addressing these barriers and ensuring that every child has the chance to go to school and learn, regardless of their circumstances.
